Wait, what just happened?
Are you missing something here?
Confusion is thick—it paralyzes—
makes you question what’s clear.
Because, they were supposed to protect you
like you were a wounded sheep.
But instead they devoured you,
marking you with scars you’ll keep.
Not sure who you can trust now?
Do you question everything?
You want to scream, “this happened!”
mouth taped so you can’t speak.
You feel like your voice was stolen.
Truth is swallowed up in facade.
I’ll be your voice for the moment;
I’ll fight to point you to God.
What they did to you was appalling.
I’m sorry for the grief they’ve caused.
There’s a Shepherd who will never harm you
Oh friend, find your refuge in God.
He’s the Good Shepherd who never fails.
He loves faithfully all of our days.
You can trust him even in this.
He’s good in all of his ways.
The road ahead is long,
Full of hurting and healing I’m sure.
These scars are so very deep
But your Good Shepherd’s love endures
Evermore.
