There are times
when anxiety threatens to drown out
all that is good.
Times when
life
feels like darkness closing in.
Where my head might explode
into an exclamation point,
hovering
where hope once was.
Swept away is the joy
of marriage,
of motherhood,
of friendship,
of love and baby smiles and scrunchy toddler noses.
Anxiety,
that old beast,
that enemy of flourishing—
surely, You won’t let it win.
Surely, the Son has won.
